About Us
For as long as I can remember, gardens have felt like home.
As a little girl, my happiest days were spent beside my mum in the garden, learning the names of plants, watching the seasons change and discovering the quiet joy that only a garden can bring. Sunday afternoons often meant a visit to Rodney’s Garden Centre in Pialligo, Canberra, where we’d wander amongst the trees and flowers, stopping for scones and tea before exploring every corner of the nursery. Those memories remain some of my happiest and sparked a passion that has stayed with me ever since.
Today, The Avid Gardener is built on the belief that great gardens are about far more than beautiful plants. They are places to gather with family, restore your wellbeing, connect with nature and create memories that last a lifetime.
Together with my wonderful team, I provide qualified horticultural advice and specialised gardening services in Orange, NSW. Every garden we care for is approached with knowledge, creativity and genuine respect for the people who call it home. We understand the opportunities and challenges of our cool climate and design and maintain gardens that thrive through every season.
Education has always been just as important to me as gardening itself. Through seasonal newsletters, practical guides and thoughtfully curated products, I hope to inspire confidence and help others discover the same joy in gardening that began for me all those years ago.
Whether we’re revitalising an established country garden, creating a new landscape or simply helping a client understand their plants a little better, our goal is always the same: to create beautiful gardens and help people fall in love with them.
Because every great garden has a story, and we’d be honoured to help write yours.
Henrietta xx
