🎄 Festive Feature: Christmas Wreath Making

Nothing says Christmas quite like a handmade wreath filled with the beauty of your own garden. Here’s how to create one:

You’ll need:

• A wreath base (wire, grapevine, or willow)

• Greenery: rosemary, olive branches, lavender, bay, pine

• Feature elements: hydrangea heads, gum nuts, seed pods, or berries

• Floral wire & secateurs

• Ribbon or twine for finishing

Instructions:

1. Start with your wreath base. Secure a small bunch of foliage using floral wire.

2. Add the next bunch, overlapping slightly to cover stems. Continue around the base until fully covered.

3. Weave in your feature flowers, herbs, or seed pods for interest and texture.

4. Tie off securely with wire at the back.

5. Finish with ribbon or twine – rustic or festive depending on your style.

Tip: Mist your wreath lightly every few days to keep it fresh longer. Dried elements can be reused next year!

• Shade solutions for delicate plants.

• Prune lightly to reduce stress.

Keep a bucket of water handy for pots on scorching days.

  • Lavender – fragrant and pollinator friendly

  • Olives – edible, structural, Mediterranean feel

  • Rosemary – culinary and drought-tough
